ISLAM-MUSLIM - MISHKAT AL MASABIH VOLUME 1
59 Abdullah bin Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: A Muslim is he from whose tongue and hands the Muslims are safe and
the refugee is he who migrates from what Allah forbade. This is the word of Bukhari, and Muslim reported: A man asked the
Holy Prophet (saw): Who among the Muslims is best? He replied: He from whose
hand and tongue, the Muslims are safe. – Bukhari, Muslim
60 Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:
Whoever says our prayer, and faces our direction (Ka’aba) and eats our
sacrificed animals, that is the Muslim for whom there is a pledge of Allah and
the pledge of His Apostle; so don’t act treacherously with Allah about His
pledge. – Bukhari
61 Oba’dah bin Samit reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said while there was a host of his companions round him: Take oath of
allegiance to me that you shall not set up anything with Allah, nor shall you
steal, nor you shall fornicate, nor you shall kill your children, nor you shall
commit slander with you may hold in your presence and your back, nor you shall
neglect the virtuous acts. Whoever fulfills (these instructions) among you, his
reward is upon Allah, and whoever commits anything out of these (things), and
is then punished in this world for this, it will be an expiation of sins for
him. Whoever commits anything therefrom, and then Allah keeps it concealed for
him, he will be at the hand of Allah. If He wishes, He will pardon him, and if
He wishes, He will punish him. So we took allegiance upon that. – Agreed
62 Mu’az reported: I was behind the Messenger of Allah
(saw) on an ass. Except the farthest end of the saddle, there was nothing
between me and him (Prophet). He said: O Mu’az! Don’t you know what is Allah’s
right over His servants and what is the right of servants over Allah? I
replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: Verily Allah’s right upon
men is that they should serve Him and not associate anything with Him and the
right of servants over Allah is that he should not inflict punishment on one
who does not associate anything with Him. I enquired: O Messenger of Allah!
Should I not convey this good news to the people? He replied: Don’t convey it,
lest they should become idle. – Agreed
63 Amr bin Al-‘As reported: I came to the Holy Prophet
(saw) and said: Extend your right hand, so that I may take oath of fealty to
you. So he extended his right hand and then I took hold of his hand. He asked:
O Amr! What is (the matter) with you? I answered: I intend to impose a
condition. “What condition do you impose?” said he. I replied: (the condition)
that He should forgive me. He said: O Amr! Don’t you know that the acceptance
of Islam destroys what was previous to it, and that emigration destroys what
was previous to it; and that pilgrimage destroys what was previous to it? –
Muslim
64 Mu’az reported – I enquired: O Prophet of Allah! Teach
me an action which will lead me to Paradise and keep me away from the Fire. He
said: You have certainly asked a very great thing and it is surely easy for one
for whom Allah makes it easy. You shall serve Allah and shall not set up any
partner to Him, you shall keep up prayer, pay your poor-rate, keep fast of
Ramazan, and make pilgrimage to the House. He said afterwards: Shall I not
guide you to the doors of good? Fasting is a shield, and charity extinguishes
fault just as water extinguishes fire, and the prayer of a man in the middle of
the latter half of night. Then he recited: Their sides draw away from their
beds (till he reached – they did) [32:16]. Afterwards he said: Shall I not
guide you to the principal of an action, its pillar, and peak of its loftiness?
‘Yes’ replied I, ‘O Messenger of Allah.’ He said: The main part of an action is
Islam, and its pillars are prayer, and the peak of its loftiness is Jihad. Then
he enquired: Shall I not inform you about the source of all these things? ‘Yes’
said I, ‘O Prophet of Allah.’ Then he caught hold of his tongue and said:
Restrain it to yourself. I enquired: O Apostle of Allah! We shall surely be
punished for what we utter therewith. He said: O Mu’az! Heavy be your mother
with you. Will the people be ever turned over their faces or over their
nostrils in Hell except for abuse of their tongues? – Ahmad, Tirmizi, Ibn Majah
65 Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: When someone of you makes best resignation to Allah, there is
written for him, for every good action he does, ten times like it to 700 times;
and there is written for him for every sin he commits, only the like of it till
he meets Allah. – Agreed
66 Bara’ bin A’jeb reported from the Holy Prophet (saw)
who said: A Muslim, when asked in the grave, will bear witness that there is no
deity but Allah, and that Muhammad (saw) is the Messenger of Allah; that is
because of the saying of Allah: Allah will set those firm who took faith in the
established Word in this life. [14:27] – Agreed
67 Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: Islam began with a few, and it will soon go back as it has begun. How
happy are those few! – Muslim
68 Abu Hurairah reported that the people of the Book used
to read the Torah in Hebrew, and explain it in Arabic to the Muslims. The
Messenger of Allah (saw) remarked: Don’t believe the People of the Book as
true, nor disbelieve them but say: We believe in Allah and in what has been
revealed to Abraham, and Isma’il, and Isaac, Jacob and their descendants and
what was given to Moses, Jesus and all the prophets from their Lord; we don’t
make any distinction between any of them, and to Him (alone) do we submit [3:83]
– Bukhari
69 Zaid bin Sa’bet reported that the Holy Prophet (saw)
said: Three things there are in which the heart of a Muslim does not play
treachery: To work sincerely for Allah, to admonish the Muslims; and to keep
attached to their united body; because their call will surely encompass those
that are behind them. – Ahmad, Ibn Majah
70 Imran bin Husain reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: There is no Jaib, no Janb and no Shegar in Islam; and whosoever
commits plunder is not of us. – Tirmizi
71 Abu Sayeed Al Khudri reported that the Messenger of
Allah (saw) said: My people will become two factions. Out of these two, three
will come out a party whose murder will be just near upright cause. – Muslim
72 Abu Sayeed Al Khudri and Anas bin Malek reported from
the Messenger of Allah (saw) who said: There will soon arise differences of
opinion and sects among my people. There will arise a people who will make
excellent speeches but will do heinous deeds. They will read the Quran which
will not pass beyond their throats; they will throw from the religion the
throwing of an arrow from the cage and they will not return till the arrow
returns to its cage. They will be the vilest of creations and beasts. Happy is
he who kills them and (happy are) they who kill him. They will call to the Book
of Allah, while they will not follow us in anything. Whoso will fight with them
will be dearer to Allah then themselves. They (companions) enquired: O
Messenger of Allah! What will be their signs? “Sitting in groups” replied he. –
Abu Daud
73 Imran bin Husain reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: A party of my people shall not cease to fight for truth overcoming
those who will oppose them till their last will fight with Dajjal – Abu Daud
74 Ibn Omar reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw)
said: Whoso imitates a people, is one of them. – Ahmad, Abu Daud
75 Abdullah bin Amr reported that a man asked the
Messenger of Allah (saw): Which Islam is best? He replied: Your giving food,
and entertaining everyone by salute whom you know and whom you do not know. –
Agreed
76 Ibn Omar reported from the Messenger of Allah (saw)
who said: A Muslim who mixes with the people and keeps patience over their
harms, is better than one who does not mix with them, nor is he patient over
their harms. – Tirmizi, Ibn Majah
